Fall Semester
STEAM + ROBOTICS
We want to close the equality gap in our communities to access quality STEAM programs for our communities, so we partnered with Saint Bartholome School and award-winning STEAM teacher Francis Belizarioto to secure a 3-month curriculum to ensure competitive STEAM and robotics foundations to set you up to compete!
Our intensive STEAM after-school program equips students with essential scientific and programming skills. They learn to approach problems methodically, generate innovative ideas, and test solutions effectively. This program builds their technical expertise and fosters self-esteem and communication skills, empowering students to confidently share and present their ideas.
Studies have shown that participating in high-quality afterschool STEAM programs have a significant impact on students by:
Empowering kids to see the real-world application of the sciences
Develop greater confidence in science ability
Build interest and a sense of belonging in STEAM subjects
Lead to increased interest in STEAM careers
Offering STEAM access to children early can allow students to enter the labor market in fields that offer more opportunities and better pay. It also improves their financial outcomes and brings much-needed diversity to our STEAM workforce.
Every month, students will dive into the exciting world of robotics with our specialized STEAM & Robotics class, led by the esteemed Francis Edmund C. Belizario. This 3-month intensive program is crafted for young innovators eager to learn, build, and compete with advanced technology.
Design, Build & Program: Gain hands-on experience with Lego NXT, EV3, and Spike Prime robots.
Create Proposals: Develop and submit proposals for the Florida Research & Robot Tournament.
Prepare for Competitions: Get ready to shine in robotics competitions.

STEAM Curriculum
Students will use the Driving Base as a modular platform to learn the basics of building and programming autonomous robots. Each lesson introduces a new extension to be built onto the Driving Base. These extensions enable it to detect obstacles, move objects, follow lines, and turn at precise angles. The unit ends with a factory-themed challenge that will test your students’ robotics skills!
